Georgeann Wells is best known for being the first woman to dunk in a college basketball game. This accomplishment brought Wells a great deal of fame and earned her a spot in the record books. Along with the dunk came TV interviews, articles about her in Sports Illustrated, a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame display, and a spot in the Women's College Basketball Hall of Fame. Evidently, this dunk made Wells one of the most famous Women's Basketball players of all time. In fact, this was such an extraordinary accomplishment that no other woman dunked in a college game again until 1994. The dunk was most definitely a milestone for Mountaineer Basketball and will never be forgotten.
