After Gymnastics

In 1986, Mary Lou Retton retired from competitive gymnastics. Her impact on the gymnastics community, however, would last for many years after that. Once she finished competing in gymnastics, she became a commentator for NBC for the 1988 Olympics. She also co-hosted the TV show, "Road to Olympic Gold." Retton also wrote for USA Today during the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. She also made several appearances in movies, TV shows, and commercials. More recently, Retton focuses her efforts on motivational speaking.
