Political Career

Natalie Tennant began her political career in 2004 when she ran as a Democrat for the West Virginia Secretary of State position. Unfortunately, she lost to Ken Hechler in the Democratic primary in her first attempt at office. But Tennant did not give up and ran again for the same position in 2008 and won the spot. She accomplished a great deal during her tenure and as a result won easily in her 2012 re-election campaign. In 2016, however, she lost a tight race to Mac Warner, West Virginia's current Secretary of State. Tennant is running for Secretary of State in November of 2020 and will be facing Mac Warner again.
